After many years of painting (a number which shall remain unspoken), starting with water colors and progressing through oils and acrylics, I have come to realize that painting is one of the great joys of my life. I am blessed with an abundance of ideas or subjects…sometimes I think my eyes work as a camera lens as I move about my day-to-day surroundings attempting to commit to memory various images. Nor do I run short of inspiration for creating paintings. My environment is sufficient motivation to work… I recognize no boundaries. Art is all about communicating, for example, creating a scene the viewer may have noticed on several occasions, but on this occasion, with a compelling mood. I use light and softness to communicate with my viewers. There are times I feel as though I could paint forever. My sincere hope is that I am able to share with the viewer what I enjoy doing so much, because art begins with the eye of the artist and ends in the soul of the viewer. Whether a simple still-life or complex landscape, I love experimenting with the play of natural light to create a softness and mood for the enjoyment and relaxation of the observer. I love doing commissions. Interaction with the patron as their ideas take form on canvas is such a rewarding experience. I also enjoy working with renovators and new home owners helping to create wall art appropriate to a particular interior design. Being a detailist, I struggle to soften any ‘photographic’ effect in my subjects. For example, flower blossoms in my painting might exhibit characteristic detail while companion foliage is left somewhat to viewers’ interpretation. I believe this method focuses viewers’ attention where intended. As I say above, art is about communication. Looking forward to working with you,
